Community Heritage Climate Action Plans
The Our Heritage, Our Future team supports communities to safeguard their heritage with Community Heritage Climate Action Plans (CHCAPs).
We recognise the impact climate change is having on the declining environmental quality of Scotland’s communities.
Through a series of workshops and activities, we engage the community with local heritage, educate participants on the impacts of climate change on heritage, and identify short, medium and long-term actions to generate the contents of the action plan.
Once plans are complete, our team can provide accredited skills training, workshops and resources to help facilitate short, medium and long term actions.

Your community, your plan
Working with communities across Scotland we have supported the coproduction of community heritage climate action plans and have provided ongoing support and continual engagement once the plans have been handed over to the groups.

Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust were the first group to complete an action plan with us in 2024.
We worked with St Fillans to help protect their local archive from the effects of climate change.
St Peter in Chains completed an action plan with us as part of a programme of activity to raise money for essential repairs to their A-listed church.
We hosted a series of summer heritage engagement sessions with Summerhill Community Centre in Dumfries before developing their action plan.
Following initial work with the Scottish Maritime Museum to deliver Cultural Heritage Skills Training, we supported them to create an action plan.
