St. Peter in Chains, Ardrossan
St. Peter in Chains is an A-listed Catholic church in Ardrossan. Their parish centre has been open for approximately 26 years and is used by hundreds of adults, young people and children on a weekly basis.
Our Heritage, Our Future worked with St Peter in Chains in 2025 to create a Community Heritage Climate Action Plan to support their funding application with National Lottery Heritage Fund. We facilitated heritage engagement workshops at the parish centre and local primary school, followed by focused sessions for parishioners on the impacts of climate change on heritage. We then worked with parishioners using our action card activity to identify which actions to include in their plan.
As of 2026, St Peter in Chains has secured £190,701 in funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Phase 1 of this funding will go towards essential repairs to the A-listed church building and the appointment of a heritage engagement officer for the church.
The Our Heritage, Our Future team are delighted with this outcome and look forward to building on our relationship with the church to engage other community groups in Ardrossan with their local heritage.
Our Heritage, Our Future has breathed new life into our funding hopes, brought excitement to our heritage engagement plans, and replaced fear with purpose as we face the challenges of climate change.
