Live Lesson: RSPB Big Birdwatch

Did you know that the Big Schools' Birdwatch is the largest citizen science project for schools in the UK? This Live Lesson is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the work of the RSPB, how to identify birds and the importance of citizen science for monitoring wild animal populations.

This year the RSPB have made more teaching resources available online than ever before for schools who register for the Big Schools Birdwatch, including two brand new guides to help learners identify the gulls they are most likely to see and birds that are black.

Schools should do their Birdwatch between the 7 January and the 14 February and participate by downloading supporting resources from their webpage . Relevant resources are available for all age groups to take part. On submitting your results, schools receive an electronic certificate celebrating their contribution as well as links to download a Schools for Nature Certificate signed by Sir David Attenborough!
