HP commits to keeping Scotland beautiful
05 June 2026
We're pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with HP that will deliver more in-person and remote support over the next year to increase engagement in environmental activity in schools and boost children and young people’s voices.
Hundreds and thousands of children and young people across Scotland have engaged in environmental education over the last 30 years through our Climate Action Schools activities and programmes, but the demand for support, inspiration, and recognition continues to grow from both educators and learners.
Ensuring that children and young people have their opinions heard on the environmental challenges and solutions of today – including the climate and nature emergencies – is vital.
Funding from HP in 2026/2027 will specifically support Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment, both an integral part of the Climate Action Schools Programme which supports the Scottish Government’s Scottish Government’s Target 2030 and Net Zero Nation ambitions of all places of education becoming Sustainable Learning Settings by 2030 and children and young people activity engaged on climate action.
Both programmes empower children and young people to drive positive environmental change, and the partnership will allow greater engagement with, and support for activity, in areas of the country with lower engagement in these programmes. It will also help support a climate-focused networking event for young people to be delivered and boost activity to help children and young people tell their stories about climate change and environmental issues and come together to celebrate success.
Barry Fisher, our CEO commented, “For more than three decades we have supported the delivery of Learning for Sustainability and inspired environmental action, giving young people a voice on climate and nature action, so we are thrilled to welcome HP on board as a sponsor, adding value to our Climate Action Schools Programme.
“This financial support will enable us to expand our reach and engagement, particularly in areas where we know there is an appetite for more support. It will also allow us to celebrate the voices of young people, hosting an in-person awards ceremony in June for our Young Reporters for the Environment.
“I’d like to thank HP for investing in us, and our vision for a clean, green and sustainable Scotland.”
In 2025, HP supported our Young Reporters for the Environment competition which saw 120 entries submitted from 19 local authority areas in Scotland.
Steph Johnstone, HP Sustainability Lead for the Scottish Public Sector, said: “Across the globe, HP is accelerating access to technology, digital literacy and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital skills content. By ensuring greater access to digital skills and economic opportunity, HP aspires to equip disconnected adolescents and adults with the critical skills needed for the Future of Work.
“Growing from an initial collaboration last year, where together we enhanced children and young people’s voice through the Young Reporters for the Environment Competition 2025, we’re very much looking forward to working with the team at Keep Scotland Beautiful in the coming year to further empower young people across Scotland to use their digital skills to share their thoughts on our environment.”
