The Impact of Vapes & E-Cigarettes
The Impact of Vapes & E-Cigarettes
Did you know?
Around 26 million disposable vapes were consumed and thrown away in Scotland in 2022, a large part of them being littered? And that their use among young people has skyrocketed in recent years, with almost one in five adolescents in Scotland having tried them?
Watch Again
In this lesson, ASH untangles facts from myths on the different impacts that e-cigarettes and vapes have on our health and environment, and how can we support people to move away from consuming them.
A great lesson with many ideas for your Eco-Committee or class to work on topics like Climate Action, Health and Wellbeing and Litter and Waste.
Find out more about the issues discussed in this lesson in the Young People and Vaping report from ASH.
Mini Live Lesson: Single Use Vapes with ASH Scotland
We are grateful to ASH Scotland (Action on Smoking and Health) for helping to deliver this lesson.

ASH Scotland – Action on Smoking and Health (Scotland) - is the leading Scottish charity working in and for Scotland on both devolved and reserved issues to reduce the harms caused by tobacco and related products. ASH Scotland was first founded by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1973, and then established as an independent charity in 1993.
ASH Scotland works with schools, youth organisations and community groups to create resources that fully inform children and young people about how to improve their health by avoiding smoking or using tobacco related products.
Extra Learning: National Litter Conversation
Listen to our National Conversation addressing the litter emergency, featuring Sean Batty, Ryan Wood, Mike Scotland, Louise Hastie and Laura Young. Laura was one of the young activists calling for a ban on disposable vapes and while the entire National Conversation is worth listening to, her presentation begins at 38:47.
