Falkirk High School
Falkirk High School was awarded their Eco-Schools Scotland Green Flag in April 2023. We were delighted to invite them to join us for the development of the new Heritage topic through the Our Heritage, Our Future project with Keep Scotland Beautiful.
We worked closely with their school eco-committee, the Falkirk High Changemakers, to explore Falkirk’s heritage and develop their heritage action plan.
The Eco-Committee created their action plan with the intention of engaging with and involving the whole school community. Their focus was planning and holding heritage events, chiefly a Falkirk Heritage Celebration Event.
Falkirk High School has engaged with the information and resources to inspire other schools to be involved with the new Heritage topic. The heritage work will feed into subsequent years’ action plans, and the Changemakers want to look at other aspects of Falkirk’s history and how they can keep this alive in the future.
It has been a pleasure to work with Keep Scotland Beautiful to introduce our heritage work through the new Eco-Schools topic. As a group, we have loved interacting with our local area and discovering more of the history of Falkirk. This has enabled us to gain a greater appreciation for our local area and, in turn, we’re more determined than ever to help preserve and celebrate our heritage. The team at Keep Scotland Beautiful have been instrumental in guiding us through this process and we can’t wait to see where this initial project will take us.
