Glasgow Science Centre has secured the second year of Green Key certification. It become the first Science Centre in Scotland (and the UK) to secure Green Key certification. There is an excellent environmentally sustainable culture present and well-established procedures for well-coordinated environmental management.

  • A large and diverse green team covering multiple departments of 12 members with two directors on board as well, creates a positive and serious approach towards becoming more sustainable.
  • An excellent variety of green and open spaces surrounding the building. They are largely kept wild, and have wildflowers, or reeds for insects and birds to nest in. They also have constructed four floating islands that are in the Pacific Quay that support plant life, and bird life. During the audit, insect pollinators, and wild birds (ducks, moorhens, and swans) were all present and using the habitat in the area.
  • Staff are skilled in carbon calculations and clearly presenting the data.
  • Being a scientific educational attraction, sustainable ways of working, and environmentally friendly culture is a core value which was seen extensively in the outside green spaces, and environmental management. processes they have in place.
