Becoming An Eco-School: 

Delivered as a series of four twilight sessions 4.00-5.00pm.

Session 1: Thursday 28 August 2025

Session 2: Thursday 11 September 2025

Session 3: Thursday 25 September 2025

Session 4: Thursday 30 October 2025 or Thursday 23 April 2026

All sessions will be recorded and emailed to those who register.

Session 1: Welcome to Eco-Schools - An introduction to the Eco-Schools Scotland programme and how to apply for a Green Flag Award using the online portal. (What is Eco-Schools?). 

Session 2: Environmental Review, Action Plan & Measuring How to put together your Action Plan, looking at the importance of your aims and including what to Measure and Monitor to make sure your work is on the right track.

Session 3: Supporting Pupil Voice through Learning for Sustainability- One of the most important ways everyone can take action on environmental issues is by using their voice. How to fulfil the Community Element of Eco-Schools and encourage Pupil Voice.

Session 4: Applying for Your Green Flag Award - The process of using our Online Application System to submit evidence for your Green Flag Award, and what kinds of evidence work best.

Learning for Sustainability and Nature Connection in Winter:

Thursday 15 January 4.00-5.00pm

Learning outdoors has clear benefits for the wellbeing of both pupils and educators. But it can be difficult to include in a busy school day, especially with winter weather to contend with. This session discusses how to make nature connection easy with ideas that can be used all year long.

Becoming a Sustainable Setting:

Tuesday 10 March 4.00-5.00pm

The Scottish Government's Learning for Sustainability Action Plan aims for all educational settings to be sustainable by 2030. But what is a sustainable setting and how can you become one? Join us to explore these questions. This session is suitable for all educators, whether you are just getting started on your sustainability journey, or you are an experienced practitioner.
