What a team!

🌿What was your favourite part of creating your garden?

Working as a team! Learning to use tools. Selecting plants that would grow well outside.

🌿Did you face any challenges and how did you respond to them?

We had to make sides for the pallets so the soil did not fall through. We broken down other pallets to then nail wood to the sides. We learned to use a saw and hammer safely.

🌿What did you learn whilst creating your garden?

To recycle as much of the materials as possible. We had lots of pallets and pipping that needed to be used or would go to the recycling centre. We also repurposed a table to help create the irrigation system to collect rainfall to feed the veggies and plants.

🌿Did you have any links with your local community or a Pocket Garden mentor whilst creating your garden?

Katie from Fair Deal Glasgow.

🌿What will happen to your garden after the competition has finished?

We will continue to maintain the garden till the cauilflower and red cabbage are fully grown then replant with other veggies.

🌿Is there anything else you would like to share?

The pupils who participated in this project have a variety of additional support needs. All contributed to the project and learned new skills and knowledge. Their priority was to use material we already had in school. Plants were initially grown using our indoor Cube which provides light indoors. Pupils wanted to choose plants and flowers that were food for insects and people.
