Impacts of climate change on heritage
This unit is designed to introduce the concept of climate change and the impact it may have on heritage in the learner’s community. The learner will be involved in discussing and reviewing positive climate actions for their community, which will then inform a pledge for action.
Local residents in Irvine have received Impacts of climate change on heritage training as part of community engagement sessions held by The Scottish Maritime Museum as they work to create their own Community Heritage Climate Action Plan. The local impacts of climate change on heritage for them includes flooding and coastal erosion.
Impacts of climate change on heritage is one of the units candidates can complete to achieve a new Certificate in Cultural Heritage, credit rated by Qualifications Scotland, as part of the Our Heritage, Our Future programme. The aim of the qualification is to support people to understand the importance of our built, natural and cultural heritage in Scotland, develop specific heritage-related skills and celebrate success of all candidates.
