Exploring identity, diversity and representation

This unit involves learning about diversity and inclusion and key related terms, both in general and with specific reference to the heritage sector. It fosters an understanding of the links between heritage and individual and national identity and how museums have evolved over time. A practical project is completed by learners to celebrate diversity in heritage and demonstrate newer or alternative forms of heritage interpretation.

Exploring identity, diversity and representation is one of the units candidates can complete to achieve a new Certificate in Cultural Heritage, credit rated by Qualifications Scotland, as part of the Our Heritage, Our Future programme.  The aim of the qualification is to support people to understand the importance of our built, natural and cultural heritage in Scotland, develop specific heritage-related skills and celebrate success of all candidates.
