Creating exhibitions and displays
This unit covers planning, creating and presenting exhibitions and displays for cultural heritage settings. Learners will gain practical skills to design, prepare and install displays that may be temporary or permanent, whilst working safely and within their level of responsibility. The unit does not include tasks required for trade work such as electrical and joinery.
Trashion-Community Exhibition 2025
Working with the Irvine Youth Legacy Centre and the Irvine Seniors Forum, the 'Trashion' project connected generations and skills, as well as inspiring a lot of chat and fun, to produce this amazing exhibition at The Scottish Maritime Museum.
From ring-pull chainmail clubbing tops to message-carrying cloaks and gowns, everyone collaborated to transform rubbish into fashion.

Creating exhibitions and displays is one of the units candidates can complete to achieve a new Certificate in Cultural Heritage, credit rated by Qualifications Scotland, as part of the Our Heritage, Our Future programme. The aim of the qualification is to support people to understand the importance of our built, natural and cultural heritage in Scotland, develop specific heritage-related skills and celebrate success of all candidates.
