Caring for heritage
This unit is designed to prepare learners to assess the condition of a heritage place or object, then plan and carry out maintenance of the heritage ethically, safely, and within the learner’s abilities. Learnes will ensure that relevant permissions are in place, risk assess the activities and create a method statement for the work. They will then carry out the work as planned, recording any changes and suggesting future maintenance regimes.
Caring for heritage is one of the units candidates can complete to achieve a new Certificate in Cultural Heritage, credit rated by Qualifications Scotland, as part of the Our Heritage, Our Future programme. The aim of the qualification is to support people to understand the importance of our built, natural and cultural heritage in Scotland, develop specific heritage-related skills and celebrate success of all candidates.
