Let’s Go Glasgow BID invests in improving quality of city

05 May 2026

Let’s Go Glasgow BID has commissioned Keep Scotland Beautiful to carry out audits of local environmental quality during April and May 2026.

The audits, designed to measure litter, flyposting, graffiti, bins, vacant sites and other quality indicators affecting the appearance of the BID area, will take place over three weeks and include seven separate audits by trained assessors at busy locations. Additionally, behavioural observations will be recorded. The results will capture the condition of streets and associated factors and provide baseline data to measure success against.

This commission is part of Let’s Go Glasgow BID’s programme of additional, business-funded interventions to improve the city centre environment, reflecting priorities agreed with levy-paying businesses through the BID Business Plan.

Brian Rae, our Environment & Place Services Manager, said: “The data we’ll gather for Let’s Go Glasgow BID will help to prioritise actions ensuring the city centre area is as clean and welcoming as possible for all those who live, work and visit the area.

“We know that good quality spaces are good for people and businesses, but in order to prioritise investment we need to understand the challenges.

“Our audits use up-to-date technologies for collection, analysis and reporting of data which will be needed to develop clear action plans for improvements.”

Kyron Keogh, Chair of the Let’s Go Glasgow BID, said: “Improving the cleanliness and presentation of the city centre is a priority for the BID, as agreed by levypaying businesses through our Business Plan. This commission is about establishing a clear, independent baseline so we can target additional BIDled activity where it will have the greatest impact.

“That includes practical interventions such as graffiti removal from private buildings, cleaning and maintenance of bins and street furniture, and a stronger focus on improving the condition of lanes.

“Our role is to add value and capacity, working alongside Glasgow City Council and other partners, and to deliver visible improvements that go beyond existing services to make the city centre a cleaner, more welcoming place for businesses, employees and visitors.”

Following the audits a report will highlight key areas for improvement alongside recommendations which the BID will use to develop an action plan, in partnership with Glasgow City Council and other stakeholders, aimed at improving specific areas and addressing issues of concern with the BID focusing on areas where it can add capacity, coordination or targeted investment.
