Henry Hoover scales Tinto Hill to keep Scotland beautiful

07 May 2026

Raising almost £400 to help keep Scotland beautiful Henry Hoover accompanied Alasdair and Catherine Reid and their pet dog Morag, as they scaled Tinto Hill, Biggar on 5 May 2026.

With an elevation 707meters (2,319ft), the challenge took the trio and Henry two and a half hours to complete.

On completing the challenge Alasdair said, “We did it! What a great day and Henry didn’t even complain once.  We climbed Tinto Hill to celebrate Tinto Cleaning Services second birthday and raise awareness for Keep Scotland Beautiful.  We definitely got a lot of odd looks from passing hillwalkers and sheep, but it was a lot of fun and good exercise too.”

Alasdair, owner of property cleaning business Tinto Cleaning Services approached us in April to ask if he could take on the challenge to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the business and raise money and awareness of our charity.

Our CEO Barry Fisher commented, “When I heard about the Henry Hoover challenge I really laughed – what a great way to raise awareness of our work, and that of a professional cleaning company.  We’d like to wish Tinto Cleaning Services a very happy second birthday and thank Alasdair sincerely for choosing our charity to donate to.  Every penny raised helps us to deliver our vision of a clean, green and sustainable Scotland by inspiring positive action for our environment in communities, schools and businesses across the country.”

If you would like to make a donation to Alasdair and henry, his page is open until 18 May at Facebook.
