We support Learning for Sustainability
07 December 2023
We’re proud to support Education Scotland, Scottish Government and a wide range of national partners to issue a national Call to Action to support Scotland’s Learning for Sustainability Action Plan 2023-2030.
We support the ambitions of Scotland’s refreshed Learning for Sustainability Action Plan which has been strengthened in response to the voices of children and young people who have called for Learning for Sustainability, together with climate change, social justice, global citizenship, outdoor learning, equalities and rights, to be a greater part of their daily learning experiences.
Our work through Climate Action Schools, in particular Eco-Schools and Climate Ready Classrooms, has sought to address the demand from educators, children and young people to understand the climate, nature and litter crisis and the skills required to take positive action.
Our Deputy CEO Catherine Gee said: “We are excited to be working to support the implementation of the Learning for Sustainability Action Plan and the achievement of its ambitions.
"Our longstanding commitment to support schools, educators and pupils through our Climate Action Schools framework and its programmes, activities, live lessons and training will continue at pace.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with partners to create a movement for change for people, planet and prosperity and creating a fairer, greener future for Scotland’s children and young people.”
The Call to Action seeks to mobilise people across Scotland to work together for the benefit of our people, planet and prosperity. It recognises the transformation role that education can play in building a fairer, greener Scotland and helping us to become a Net Zero Nation. The goal is to tackle the nature and climate emergencies and make sure that rights, equalities and social justice are at the heart of the movement for change.
We are joining in the call to:
- Connect – Chat, message, post and communicate widely to encourage as many people as possible to join the Call to Action.
- Act – Do something, get started, organise, collaborate, learn with and from others to help your setting or school become sustainable.
- Share – Tell us and others what you are doing to promote Learning for Sustainability for All using #Target2030 and #LfSforAll
And we urge you to do the same.
