Climate Action Week 2022

During #ScotClimateWeek – which kicks off on 26 September 2022 - we will be taking the chance to further raise awareness of the global climate emergency.  

On the back of the signing of the Glasgow Climate Pact at the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP26) last year, and ahead of world leaders coming together in early November in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, we are pleased to support a focused week of action here in Scotland, providing opportunities for everyone to have conversations about climate action.

During the week will be engaging with and supporting businesses, schools, communities and individuals to ensure they know what they can do at home, work and in their neighbourhoods to combat the climate crisis.

Some of the wide range of activities we will be facilitating and supporting include:

• Running online teaching and education sessions for primary schools, secondary Eco-Committees and educators as part as our first online Schools Climate Action Week
• Launching our Climate Action Schools pledge
• Delivering a free online workshop on the climate emergency open to all to help bust the myths and explain the jargon empowering attendees to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There will be special guests from the Scottish Government.
• Providing Climate Emergency Training to a wide number of organisations, businesses and individuals.
• Publishing our report on Scotland’s Climate Festival.
• We will also be presenting at a Place Based Climate Action Event with Architecture and Design Scotland on our work with communities to develop Climate Action Plans.

At the tail end of the week we will also be supporting the launch of Running Out of Time is a 7,200km non-stop running relay from Scotland to Egypt carrying a climate change message from young people to the decision makers at COP 27, a year on from the climate conference in Glasgow.

As a member of the Foundation for Environmental Education, which we work with to deliver Green Key and Eco-Schools we are delighted to be supporting this – FEE is one of the principal partners.  On Friday 30 September there will be 3,000 young people gathering at Glasgow Green to set the relay baton on its way.

Scotland’s Climate Week is an annual event, which we have supported with activity since 2016. Each year we have scaled up our contribution with the aim if making more impact than ever before so we can support Scotland’s ambition to become a Net Zero Nation as soon as possible.
