Environmental management support

Our environmental management programme helps organisations who are at the early stages of their planning.

We support organisations to look at their environmental risks and responsibilities to identify their impacts; think about legislation and procedures; create objectives and targets; and develop an environmental policy, strategy and action plan.

There are many challenges facing our environment. We are in a climate emergency, global wildlife populations are declining and there is a plastic pollution crisis. We must all play our part to do what we can to manage our environmental impacts, including reducing those negatively affecting our local and global environment.

Our programme is made up of three related workshops, a guidance document for independent development, and ongoing support from trained and experienced colleagues. It is structured in such a way that allows organisations to build a strong foundation to work and improve from.

Who is the environmental management programme for?

This is intended for organisations who have little or no current documentation on their environmental management and will be particularly helpful to charities and SME’s. It will help organisations to respond to the risks, opportunities and responsibilities whilst sharing environmental commitments to employees, customers and suppliers.

How does the environmental management programme work?

Guidance document

A supporting guidance document will be provided at the start of the programme which will work alongside the workshops. It will introduce the elements of environmental management and support independent work.

Three facilitator led workshops

Three workshops will be led by Keep Scotland Beautiful, taking organisations through elements of environmental management and they will include practical tasks for participants.

Before, between and after the three workshops participants are required to complete independent work which builds upon work completed in the workshops.

Ongoing support

We will provide support from our experienced colleagues. This will provide support for selected elements of environmental management covered in the programme.
