FAQ's

Why are these workshops taking place?

Consultation for the National Litter and Flytipping Strategy (NLFS) indicated a strong appetite to establish a community focused education programme to help tackle litter, with separate Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) research demonstrating high levels of support for educational and behavioural campaigns.

The 90-minute Community Litter Workshops are designed to provide participants with information and access to resources to help tackle litter and littering behaviour.

The workshops are part of KSB’s work on the NLFS Year 2 actions.  The workshops are funded by the Scottish Government.

You can read the National Litter and Flytipping Strategy documents here.

Why is there no workshop for my local authority?

Early in 2024, we ran a series of pilot workshops online and in-person across Aberdeen, Dumfries and Galloway, North Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire local authority areas.  In year 2, we will roll-out the workshops in four new Local Authority areas: Aberdeenshire, Argyll and Bute, Falkirk and Scottish Borders.  We will again hold Scotland-wide online sessions.

We are also looking to engage with community groups from across Scotland who would be interested in incorporating the workshop at their local meeting or event.

If you are interested, please email NLFS@KeepScotlandBeautiful.org

Why do the workshops vary between online and in-person?

We are looking to building on our earlier work to establish the effectiveness of in-person and online workshops.  We have also found that some people prefer one type of event to the other.

Are spaces to attend the workshops limited?

Yes, to facilitate workshops effectively, and to allow for interaction, spaces for each workshop advertised on Eventbrite are limited.  Please only sign up if you are going to attend – these are not large webinars they are workshops that encourage interaction and peer-to-peer connection.

How do I know if I'm eligible to attend a workshop?

You must live in the relevant area for the workshop you want to attend, be aged 18+ and be at the start of your litter tackling journey.  You'll want to learn more about littering issues, planning a first step to tackle litter in your community, and have an interest in behaviour change.

Please check the Eventbrite registration pages for further details.

Can I turn up at a workshop without registering to attend?

No. So we can facilitate workshops effectively, spaces for each workshop must be booked via Eventbrite.

Does my registration via Eventbrite secure a space at a workshop?

Yes, you will receive an email after you have registered via Eventbrite that confirms your space. Please note: You must meet the eligibility criteria for the workshop you have registered to attend (see above). We may have to cancel registrations that do not fit the eligibility criteria.

What if a group of people from my community group would like to attend a workshop?

We are open to suggestions for additional workshops, and we may even be able to deliver the workshop at your meeting or event. If you have a community meeting or event where there are people who are starting their journey to tackle litter and littering behaviour, and you think this workshop could be useful, please let us know.
