Cove in Bloom work to improve and enhance the area of Cove & Altens. They aim to make this an attractive and enjoyable place to live as well as celebrating the history of the area. The three historical industries are farming, largely in the Altens area; fishing, based in the old fishing village beside Cove Harbour; and quarrying, on the hillside above the harbour. In addition to the floral enhancements, they’ve added various displays to commemorate these industries, horse drawn ploughs and other implements for farming, standing heritage stones for quarrying, and a sculpture based around Isie Caie, who was the last fishwife in Cove, for the fishing industry. Further, they have a reminder of more recent heritage by way of the oil industry ornaments at the community garden on Cove Road.
