Contributing to the Draft Climate Change Plan

29 January 2026

We have today submitted our response to the Scottish Government’s Draft Climate Change Plan (CCP).

Based on our knowledge and experience, supported by evidence and data gathered by our team over a number of years and listening to you, our partners and stakeholders from multiple sectors including other NGOs, local councils, communities, businesses and schools across Scotland we have collated and submitted strong response.

While we believe there are some very positive inclusions laid out in the CCP, there is real opportunity to review and strengthen it ensuring people, climate and nature of Scotland are put before pure economic growth.

We can and should do more to tackle the challenges facing our country on climate, nature and local environmental quality, and our response clearly outlines where we feel that we can support efforts through climate education, community climate action and supporting and recognising businesses to take the first steps towards becoming more sustainable.

Barry Fisher, our Chief Executive, commented: “We welcomed the opportunity to respond to this important Scottish Government consultation this month and have raised a number of concerns as well as identified massive opportunities to support and inspire people to learn more and identify practical actions they can take to support Scotland’s ambition.

“As we look to the future we are committed to developing our advice, support, and training to increase awareness, improve understanding, and build capability and capacity, helping everyone achieve their environmental ambitions.  We aim to do more to bridge the gap between policy, people and provide tangible, practical solutions.”

We deliver training to support people understand action they can take to combat climate change and help Scotland become a more circular economy and you can find out more about our training opportunities here.
