19 November 2025
We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new Charity Trustees to strengthen its work to inspire action for our environment.
Announcing the appointment of the new Charity Trustees Tom Brock, OBE, Chair of the Board said: “I’m delighted to have been able to welcome a total of four new trustees this year – this appointment of trustees is in addition to two who joined us in August*. It remains a challenging and important time for our charity and for Scotland’s environment, but the skills and enthusiasm that our new trustees bring to the Board provides us with an excellent opportunity to strengthen what we do.
"All have a real passion and commitment to support what we want to achieve, and I have no doubt, will be an important asset to us as we work with individuals, communities and business throughout the country to combat climate change, tackle litter and waste, increase environmental education and enhance the places we all care about, right across Scotland.”
Joining the Board of Charity Trustees are Erica Roche and Brian Henderson.
Erica is currently working as Change & Governance Manager within East Renfrewshire Council’s Environment Department and has a breadth of experience from strategic planning to environmental improvement project delivery in a community context. Her current remit includes the Council’s Get to Zero agenda which garners support from teams across the Council, schools and the community in its drive to be net-zero by 2045.
Previously, Erica worked in resource management where she gained an appreciation of the challenge faced in protecting our environment against rising consumerism and the need for education and early engagement.
She is a firm believer in the impact our environment has on our health and well-being and is particularly interested in how we connect with nature as a precursor to inspiring action to make a positive difference to our places.
Following her appointment Erica commented, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to be a Trustee with Keep Scotland Beautiful because I can be part of an impactful, values-driven team whose purpose is to make a difference to our environment and people’s lives.
“I am hoping that my experience of working in local government will help us in our next phase and see us go from strength to strength, leading the way to a better, cleaner Scotland that’s prepared for its future, changed climate. Engaging with Scotland’s councils will be key to reaching more of Scotland’s people and the time is now to develop and strengthen these key partnerships if we want to deliver on our ambition.
“In the end, I want to see a better Scotland for me, for my kids and for everyone. I want to feel proud of Scotland when people come here to visit- a Scotland that is visibly leading the way in terms of environmental protection.”
Brian has more than 30 years’ experience in business, investment and sustainability. He has worked with organisations of all sizes and has advised some of the country’s largest pension schemes. He’s also part of the governing body at Heriot-Watt University, where he chairs the Donations and Investment Committee and supports several strategy and finance groups. Over the years, Brian has played leading roles in industry bodies such as the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association, the CFA Institute and the CBI.
On his appointment, Brian said, “I’m delighted to support Keep Scotland Beautiful because its purpose aligns so closely with my own values - combining sustainability, governance and community impact.
“I hope to bring my experience in business, investment and strategy to help the charity grow its influence and deliver real positive outcomes for both people and their surroundings.
“For me, keeping Scotland beautiful is more than just looking after our environment. It’s about community, resilience and creating a sustainable future of which we can all be proud.”
