Free Climate Emergency Training for East Dunbartonshire

If you have ties to East Dunbartonshire and want to learn more about the climate emergency, why not start the new year with positive action for you and our climate by registering for our 55-minute webinars featuring a Q&A session during January and February 2025.

People that attend will learn what the climate emergency means for them and find out how they can take simple positive action. Anyone with ties to East Dunbartonshire is welcome to attend, with people representing local organisations, communities and businesses are being particularly encouraged to get attend.

We will deliver the ‘Climate Emergency in less than one hour’ webinars  via Zoom and are part of training designed in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council and East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action which is fully funded by the UK Government with £42,175 being provided through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Two fully accredited online Climate Emergency Training courses, which provide the opportunity for people to become certified as Carbon Literate are also being offered.

Using local case studies and examples, all the sessions will help participants become more resilient to climate impacts and find out how taking positive action on climate change can lead to a variety of additional benefits.  

The 2025 sessions are all FREE and will take place: 

The Climate Emergency webinar and Q&A via Zoom: 

  • Friday 17 January, (14:00-14:55). 
  • Wednesday 22 January, (10:00-10:55). 
  • Tuesday 28 January, (12:00-12:55). 
  • Thursday 6 February, (16:00-16:55). 

Accredited Training via Zoom: 

  • Wednesday 22 & Wednesday 29 January, (14:00-16:30). 
  • Friday 31 & Friday 7 Feb, (10:00-12:30). 

If you are interested in Keep Scotland Beautiful delivering a bespoke session for groups over 10 in number, either online or in-person, that can be offered too. 

Tim Mullens, our Senior Training Officer, said: “Through this partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council and East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, we’re delighted to provide final opportunities for people with ties to the area to learn about the Climate Emergency in just 60 minutes, or attend an accredited course.. 

“In addition to covering local climate impacts and council initiatives, all these free sessions will introduce practical co-benefits of climate action, such as improved resilience to extreme weather, reduced costs and improved environments.”

It affects all aspects of society and can affect communities differently depending on geography and environment.” 

“At East Dunbartonshire Council we are committed to tackling climate change and our emerging Climate Action Plan will co-ordinate and outline our work in this area as well as determine how we plan to empower communities to act.” 

“By offering this training we are taking a step in ensuring local people gain a real understanding of the impact of the Climate Emergency as well as giving them the tools to make a positive difference which ultimately benefits us all.”
