Celebrate your beaches and parks with one of our prestigious awards

10 January 2025

With 68% of people in Scotland living just a 5-minute walk to their nearest green or blue space, and 44% stating that they use their nearest green or blue space at least several times a week, the importance of managing them to meet the needs and expectations of communities has never been more important.[1]

We have been recognising beaches with awards for more than 30 years, and parks for over a decade, and are now inviting applications for 2025.

Our two award schemes are open to local authorities, communities and others who manage parks or beaches, and are the only verified recognition schemes in Scotland.  We know that managing places valued by visitors and locals can be tricky, but our awards provide a framework to help you put in place systems to minimise negative impacts on our natural environments and to celebrate you efforts.

Jamie Ormiston, our Training and Accreditation Coordinator said, “Showcasing and celebrating the efforts of those who manage our parks and beaches so that all those who visit enjoy an excellent experience underpins our award schemes for parks and beaches.

“Our independent assessments, and accreditation framework is based on best practice in environmental management.  We know that our awards generate a sense of pride and that recipients value our support, networking and peer-learning events.  So, we’d love to see more of Scotland’s great spaces recognised in our 25th anniversary year and urge you to find out more about the criteria, the process and the opportunities to demonstrate your commitment to keeping your park or beach clean, green and sustainable.”
