Spreading the word about Conscious Consumption activities in Lochaber.
Lochaber Environmental Group (LEG), partner of the Highland Community Waste Partnership (HCWP) joined Juliette Garrett and Carrie Kirkegaard on a Talking Hope Podcast with Lochaber Hope to talk about what's being done in the Lochaber area to promote Conscious Consumption.
Lesley Hawkins, HCWP Project Officer for LEG discussed the HCWP projects she runs in the Lochaber area to help businesses and individuals to reduce consumption and waste. These projects are divided into three main categories, Food waste and composting, Share & Repair and Single Use Items & Packaging and include:
- Compost workshops and compost bin give-aways
- Food waste reduction events
- Community Composting Pilot
- In-vessel Composting Network
- Refurbishing composters to support businesses to reduce food waste
- Repair workshops and visible mending sessions
- Fort William Repair Cafe with New Connections, Fort William Mens Shed and The Workshop Studios
- Refill Lochaber
- Helping businesses and individuals to reduce disposable packaging by promoting Returnable Packaging and Cup Recycling
