Andrew Stocks is a Clean Up Hero

We're delighted to award Andrew Stocks with a Clean Up Scotland Hero award for his efforts to reverse the country’s litter emergency.

Andrew, from Helensburgh, was nominated by his daughter Helen who “could not hazard a guess as to how much litter he has disposed of or how many hours he has spent picking up other people’s rubbish”.

Helen added: “He just does it quietly, it’s not something he does for recognition or as part of any group. It’s just something he does when he’s walking the dog.

“My dad doesn’t do this for the thanks, or to get others to join him. He does it to make where he lives a genuinely better place. No piece of rubbish is too big or too small and no weekend is complete for him without at least three bin bags worth of rubbish retrieved.”

As well as his own efforts, Andrew has even given Helen the litter picking bug.

“If he comes through to Glasgow, it’ll be something we go out and do together,” Helen said. “And now I’ll always pick up litter when I see it on the street.”
