Local Environmental Quality audits
Our Local Environmental Quality audits help you to understand how litter, waste and local environmental quality affect your land and your services.
We tailor projects based on your required outcomes and have experience on both streets and open spaces, measuring long and short term trends, monitoring before and after policy changes or interventions.
We can use standardised methodologies aligned to national audits and national legislation or design something completely new. We will always ensure outputs align to your KPIs and reporting needs.
Our audits use up-to-date technologies and we can discuss software such as ESRI, GIS and PowerBI for collection, analysis and reporting.
Some of our services are aligned to the Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse (2018) Scotland suited to bodies required to meet duties to keep land clean and clear under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Please get in touch with Brian.Rae@keepscotlandbeautiful.org to discuss how we can develop a project that suits you.
Our Local Environmental Quality audits are perfect for:
- land managers (owners or contracted),
- local authorities,
- BIDs (Business Improvement Districts), and
- any other group wanting to understand Local Environmental Quality in a certain area.
With over a decade of experience in bespoke audits, we have a wealth of experience to draw on to design each project. We are at the forefront of litter data, delivering many of the litter actions under the National Litter and Flytipping Strategy and coordinating the national litter monitoring programme in Scotland.
A range of our Local Environmental Quality audits
One-off monitoring of your environment
We design and implement audits of managed land and produce reports highlighting hotspots of litter and/or poor local environmental quality, compositions of litter and possible solutions.
Evaluation of intervention
We design and implement audits of land before and after interventions or policy changes to evaluate its success. This could include communication or education campaigns, changes in bin infrastructure or cleansing regimes. We can do all assessments as an impartial third party or work with you on a monitoring plan.
Long-term monitoring
We design methodologies including zoning for you to use, with support in tools, training and reporting for more long-term monitoring. We can do all assessments as an impartial third party, short or long term, or provide our support until you are comfortable with the process.
Zoning your land
We support in zoning land to meet the requirements of the Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse (2018) Scotland where all bodies with duties under the code should assess and allocate their land to set zones and make the findings accessible.
Waste infrastructure
We can focus on waste infrastructure - public bins, commercial receptacles or trade waste. We can map assets, monitor use and/or provide compositional analysis. This helps to understand how waste infrastructure is used, ensure practices are effective in keeping land clear of waste and rationalise the location and number of bins.
