Edinburgh Gaelic Centre

Our Gaelic Learning and Education Officer, Jonathan, visited Edinburgh to deliver two workshops – one on Nature Connections and another on creating short Gaelic videos focused on the theme Keep Scotland Beautiful. In the morning, through interactive activities and creative work, participants gained a deeper understanding of how different aspects of nature interact with one another, and in the afternoon, participants explored filming, acting, and editing skills all through the medium of Gaelic.

Here are some of the short videos created during the workshops. Through creativity, collaboration, and learning new filming and editing skills, participants explored topics such as nature, waste, climate change, and the importance of Keep Scotland Beautiful. The videos showcase their own ideas, voices, and approaches, all expressed through the medium of Gaelic.
Travelling with Litter

By Hector, Hiúdaí and Henry (Alba h-Onarach)

Protecting the Environment from our Class

By Eve, Laoise and Esme (Deisel is Deònach is gu math Neònach)

Ant and Dec

By Malcom, Phin and Kit (Na Heroic h-Isbeanan)

These short films showcase how participants explored themes of caring for Scotland’s environment through the medium of Gaelic. Using storytelling and video, they shared ideas around keeping places beautiful, sustainable and valued within their community. The finished films reflect both the creativity developed during the workshop and the power of Gaelic as a living language for discussing environmental responsibility and local action.
