Bookings open for our Winter 2026 Train-the-Trainer course.
Our Carbon Literacy Train-the-Trainer course is one of the stepping stones on the pathway to Carbon Literacy Trainer (CLT) (Level 2).
Designed and delivered by our most experienced trainers, this course is fully accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project.
This course takes place quarterly and our February 2026 course is open to book now via Eventbrite.

Who is this training for?
People who have been certified as Carbon Literate and want to continue their development as a trainer, by taking a step towards Carbon Literacy Trainer (CLT) (Level 2).
The only prerequisite for attending this course, is that you have been certified as Carbon Literate, through attending a Carbon Literacy Project accredited Carbon Literacy course, delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful, or another provider.
What will I learn?
Training participants will:
- Become fully aware of the Carbon Literacy accreditation and certification processes.
- Acquire skills and knowledge necessary to develop and deliver a Carbon Literacy course to your audience.
- Deliver a section of our ‘Carbon Literacy with Keep Scotland Beautiful’ course.
What is the structure of the training delivery?
This course involves:
- 3 x 3.5 hour live online sessions via Zoom or MS Teams for cohorts of up to eight participants.
- Self-study prior to the live session delivery and between sessions.
Week 1 (self-study)
- Familiarise yourself with The Carbon Literacy Project accreditation process.
- Familiarise yourself with our accredited 'Carbon Literacy Training with Keep Scotland Beautiful' course.
Week 2 (live online session 1)
- Carbon Literacy training: course development and accreditation.
- Carbon Literacy trainer and organisation accreditations.
- The optimal learning environment.
- Essential trainer skills.
Week 3 (live online session 2)
- Session management and inclusivity.
- Carbon Literacy training: course administration and certification process.
- The importance of feedback and reflection.
- Preparation for practice session.
Week 4 (live online session 3)
- Online practice session.
- Feedback.
- Next steps.
How does this course help to reach Carbon Literacy Trainer (CLT) (Level 2)?
Our Train-the-Trainer course is one of the steps required to reach Carbon Literacy Trainer (CLT) (Level 2), but the content of the course should prove useful for anyone delivering Carbon Literacy.
The only prerequisite for attending this course, is that you have been certified as Carbon Literate, through attending a Carbon Literacy Project accredited Carbon Literacy course, delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful, or another provider.
To achieve Carbon Literacy Trainer (CLT) (Level 2), in addition to completing this course, you will need to complete the steps outlined in the 'certification journey graphic' on the Carbon Literacy Project website.
