The Douglas Park Project

The purpose of the Project is to renovate and maintain Douglas Park by providing opportunities within the park to members of the community, visitors to the park, and anyone interested to garden, learn about sustainability methods e.g. composting, collecting rain water, recycling, repurposing, litter picking and, through participation, improving physical and mental wellbeing. They aim to build a stronger community through the bringing together of people and the building of intergenerational relationships through the use of the park by many local organisations e.g. clubs, uniformed organisations, churches, families etc.

In 2024, The Douglas Park Project was selected by Keep Scotland Beautiful as the winner of the Scottish level of the Sustainable Gardening Award, one of five new RHS Community Awards.  Find out more.
