Gairn Community Garden

Aberdeen City

The Gairn Community Garden is a vibrant initiative in Aberdeen, transforming 600 square meters of abandoned allotment into a thriving community space. With the help of local charities, nurseries, and over 30 volunteers, they removed 30 tons of waste to create a hub for learning, social interaction, and local food production. Their goals include building raised beds, child-friendly play areas, and seating for residents, fostering sustainability, education, and social connection. Collaborating with groups like New Scot and Men’s Shed, they aim to create a welcoming space for all ages, combating isolation and promoting environmental stewardship in the local community.
