Darkwood Crew - Helping Ferguslie Flourish

Darkwood Crew, established in October 2018, is a community-led group based in Ferguslie Park, Paisley. Their award-winning, multi-faceted #ReduceReuseRecycleFerguslie initiative tackles food insecurity, fuel poverty, social isolation and environmental neglect through practical action. The initiative connects climate change to everyday community needs, meeting those needs in a dignified and sustainable way. Their work includes a weekly community market using surplus food, a community growing area for learning and well-being, an appliance and furniture reuse project, and year-round environmental maintenance of the village green. They work in partnership with residents and local organisations to improve their neighbourhood and to reduce waste.

In 2022, the group were recognised with a Keep Scotland Beautiful 'Beautiful Scotland & It's Your Neighbourhood' discretionary award - joint winner of the Growing Communities Award.
