Lindsay was Chairman of our Board of Charity Trustees from November 2015 to April 2021 having been a Charity Trustee before. Lindsay stood down as Chair following an accident in early 2021 which incapacitated him. We are delighted that his recovery continues. His passion for the work that the communities we support through our activities is outstanding. He also put great effort into ensuring our effective governance as a national charity.
An advocate of all that #TeamKSBScot does, he continues to support our work and champion our ambition.
Lindsay stood down as Chair of OSCR in April 2021 having previously been Deputy Chair and a Board Member. He was also Chair of Community Justice Scotland. He retired as the Chief Executive of the Scottish Legal Aid Board in August 2015 and was previously a Director of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). He is currently Chair of the Scottish Government Central Government Digital Transformation Board and Vice Chair of the International Legal Aid Group. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He was awarded a CBE for his contribution to the administration of justice in Scotland.
Lindsay was presented with a Certificate of Fellowship by HRH The Earl of Forfar KG GCVO in June 2021 to mark his outstanding contribution to our charity.
Lindsay said, “It has been a great privilege and pleasure to have been a Charity Trustee and Chair of Keep Scotland Beautiful. Our hugely knowledgeable and committed staff and Charity Trustees, working with the wonderful volunteers and partners make a substantial contribution to Scotland’s environment and communities.
“It is the great breadth of the charity’s activities which has amazed me - from delivering Eco-Schools, to the Beautiful Scotland and It’s Your Neighbourhood initiatives, to the awards for clean beaches and parks, our work on monitoring and improving Local Environmental Quality across Scotland, our litter clean-up activities, heritage work, environmental auditing services, our leading work on Climate Emergency Training and more!
“For me it is the interconnection across all these, and other areas, which can make a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of our environment and our communities and Scotland’s aim of achieving net zero.
“I hope to use my new role as an Honorary Fellow to continue to support Keep Scotland Beautiful and its important work.”
