Professor Bruce Robertson OBE
Bruce was a Charity Trustee between 2014 and 2025 and during that time championed our work and was a true advocate of all that we do. Since stepping down from our Board at the end of his term, he has continued to support our work and champion our ambition.
A former teacher, Bruce served as a Director of Education for 12 years before working in an advisory capacity with The Scottish Government, the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland ( ADES ) and other national agencies, including Bòrd na Ghaidhlig where he was interim Chief Executive.
Bruce has experience of charity work in different settings, large and small, and is a former Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Scotland. He has a passion for environmental and outdoor education having led a number of national policy initiatives in this field.
He is currently Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde, a past President of ADES, a Fellow of the SQA, and was awarded an OBE in 2006 for services to Education.
On being invited to become an Honorary Fellow Bruce said, “ It is a great honour to have been invited to become an Honorary Fellow of Keep Scotland Beautiful, such a wonderful charity which does such a lot for Scotland in many different respects. I look forward to promoting and supporting the charitable purposes of Keep Scotland Beautiful and will do my very best to help the charity go from strength to strength in its diverse range of activities nationally and locally.”
