Tom has extensive experience in sustainability, conservation and tourism. He studied Zoology at Aberdeen and Glasgow Universities and was a Countryside Ranger before working for British Waterways for 15 years, improving and revitalising canals throughout the UK for leisure, tourism and regeneration. He was Chief Executive of the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre for 20 years and Chair of Scotland’s Tourism Environment Forum.

Tom lives in East Lothian and is a Sir Winston Churchill Travelling Fellow and a graduate of Common Purpose. He was awarded an OBE for services to tourism in 2006.

He is passionate about wildlife and the natural environment and is a keen cyclist, walker and photographer.
