Tony McDaid
Tony McDaid is the Chief Executive of Caledonia Gladiators Basketball, Scotland’s professional basketball franchise. Experienced in basketball as both a player and coach, Tony joined the club in June 2023 as their first CEO as they moved to their new East Kilbride arena.
Previously, Tony worked in education for over thirty years and much of this time was spent within the South Lanarkshire Council area. His roles included Principal Teacher of Physical Education and Depute Head Teacher at Cathkin High School (1996-2006), Head teacher of Hunter High and Calderglen High Schools (2006 – 2013), Head of Service for South Lanarkshire Council (2013 to 2016) and Executive Director of Education (2017 – 2023).
In his role as Executive Director of Education, Tony was responsible the delivery of education for over fifty-five thousand children and young people, leadership of seven thousand five hundred staff within over one hundred and fifty schools and establishments and the oversight of an annual budget of over £500 million.
