Reverse Vending Machine Study

Reverse Vending Machine Study

This September we are launching a partnership study between Keep Scotland Beautiful, Coca Cola Europacific Partners and New College Lanarkshire which will introduce a 20p voucher incentive for every can and plastic bottle recycled through Reverse Vending Machines in the Motherwell, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld Campuses.

The study will build on learnings from a previous campaign No Lectures, Sort it, Recycle It which tested various interventions and messaging to encourage students at the University of Strathclyde to recycle.

How does Recycling help Scotland?

  1. Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill which mean less landfill tax for Scotland
  2. Keeps valuable resources in the country which is good for the Scottish economy.
  3. Creates jobs in Scotland
  4. Less litter and pollution
  5. Reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying and logging, refining and processing raw materials.
  6. Turns waste into something useful or innovative or even back to its original packaging use.
