Fair Work First statement
Our commitment to fair work first
Keep Scotland Beautiful supports the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First Policy.
We are committed to developing a workplace culture where all voices are respected and valued and where employees are engaged in decisions which affect them.
This is evidenced in our organisational policies, procedures and systems regarding leave, equality, dignity, training, and development.
Our Strategy outlines our five values - Collaborative, Positive, Ambitious, Innovative and Influential - and these values reflect who we are and how we work.
Appropriate channels for effective voice
We have developed effective voice channels which are reflective of the size of our charity. We actively promote both individual and collective channels to ensure that all employees have the opportunity to contribute to decisions that affect them.
Our formal approach at an individual level includes line management one-to-ones and an annual appraisal process. At a collective level we have cross-organisational working groups, we provide weekly updates via our intranet and we hold regular briefing and Q&A sessions.
Informally we encourage open dialogue, active listening and responsive leadership.
We also conduct formal stakeholder surveys and internal employee surveys to ensure we take into account the views and voices of those who work with us and for us so we can improve practices.
Investment in workforce development
Our annual appraisal process helps to encourage and assess employee development and support employees in their roles. Support for and identification of training and development needs is encouraged to ensure roles can be carried out effectively and to support professional development.
We are committed to providing opportunities for young people through internships, short term work placements and through connections with education establishments.
We do not make use of zero hours contracts
Action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace
We are fully committed to creating a safe and inclusive culture and working environment which provides equality of opportunity and fairness and freedom for all in our employment from unlawful discrimination.
Payment of the real Living Wage
We are an accredited Living Wage Employer and ensure that our pay and grading structure is in line with or above the Living Wage. Additionally we have a minimum agency/contractor hourly rate and salary level and it is our pay policy to pay any internships in line with the Living Wage as a minimum.
Flexible and family friendly working practices for all employees
We embrace flexibility where possible offering a hybrid working environment with employees working from home and visiting our Stirling hub at least once a week.
We believe that all employees should be supported in managing the balance of work and other life commitments.
We oppose the use of fire and rehire practices
