Methven Primary School - Coral Reef

Project Title: Coral Reef

This artwork was created as a homework project by pupil Eli.

Eli made a polluted mini coral reef out of items he found in recycling bins to draw attention to the importance of reefs and the consequences of litter ending up in the sea. Reefs need animals to survive and they themselves support a whole ecosystem. They are a really important habitat and also help reduce carbon dioxide. Eli picked white colours for his corals because although live corals are very vivid in colour, they turn white when they die. He added some nets with dead fish trapped.
