Belville Community Garden Trust is a thriving hub of activity in the east end of Greenock. Led by a small staff team and their ‘family’ of dedicated volunteers, BCGT undertake a range of conservational projects, promoting learning and understanding of our natural environment throughout the community.

Erskine Community Garden is a group of Erskine who have conducted litter picks for several years. This has evolved from tidying up the town, to looking at solutions to reduce litter and be more effective in making Erskine more environmentally friendly. We want to make a difference for not just our community but the global community we are all a part of.

Friends of the River Kelvin

Friends of the River Kelvin has been tackling land and river based waste and litter since before we became a charity in 1991. We've been running monthly clean-ups all along the Kelvin on the first Saturday of the month and have only rescheduled 1 in over 8 years! FORK care passionately about the River Kelvin and the environment and work with others to protect the River Kelvin for future generations to enjoy.

Luggiewatch aims to create awareness, protect and enhance the natural environment in and around the Luggie Water and associated areas. We do this by engaging others as much as possible in activities that achieve this, showcase this and connect conservation to our human health and wellbeing.

We work with a variety of students and groups who are always looking for ways of improving the environment. To date the focus has been on improving green spaces and attracting wildlife through planting a variety of plants and shrubs.

Brighter Bothwell

Brighter Bothwell’s aim is to maximise local volunteering to enhance the local environment. It’s always been a team effort and they have sought to involve local people, businesses, schools, churches, other community groups, local authority staff and others who share their aspirations. They always support the Spring Clean and hope, through Upstream Battle, they can extend their reach to include a woodland bordering the River Clyde. Their ethos is ‘Let’s just do it’!

Cairnhill Woods Group, members of Trust for Conservation Volunteers and Community Woodlands Association, consists of locals who desire a flourishing outdoor space for native flora and fauna to thrive and folk to enjoy. We have been working with East Dunbartonshire Council since 2008 to improve the woods and other local green spaces for present and future generations.

Friends of Stonehouse Park

Friends of Stonehouse Park is a constituted group whose aim is to promote Alexander Hamilton Memorial Park, the river Avon and walks surrounding it. The group organise events to encourage more people to use the park, appreciate its gorgeous views and to raise funds to improve the facilities on offer.

86th Glasgow Company Boys' Brigade
East Renfrewshire
The 86th Boy’s Brigade formed in 1981, and currently consists of 30 boys aged 7-17 across. Throughout lockdown they have managed to collect 150 bags of litter in 2020 and will continue their efforts in 2021.
As our future generation they will teach the Boys about managing waste, with a link to consumption and climate change, and the practical skills for running and operating the shop, café and workshop. The aim is to encourage people to take pride in our local area by keeping it clean and tidy

Clyde Corridor Badger Survey
South Lanarkshire
CCBS was formed in November 2015. The intention is to survey the river Clyde from Erskine Bridge to Watermeetings, ( both sides) in order to determine the health of
the badger metapopulation and to report on the effects of development on badger social groups. We hope to have finished the complete survey by the summer of 2019, a total distance of around a hundred and fifty kilometres.

Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore

Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore are the fastest litter-pickers in the West! We clean outwards from Dumbarton Rock, ancient seat of Scotland’s kings. We’ve found all sorts, including a four-foot python! We meet every Sunday, check our facebook page for meetings, new members welcome.

Geocaching CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) group

The Scottish geocaching community take part in a worldwide environmental initiative call Cache In Trash Out® (CITO). At CITO events, geocachers and community groups work together to improve parks and other outdoor environments. They clean up litter, plant trees, remove invasive species, build trails, and more.

Friends of the Calder

Friends of the Calder is a voluntary, constituted group, established approximately six years ago. The group focuses on the conservation, lenjoyment, community involvement and education concerning an area known locally as the Calder, or ‘Cawther’ in Blantyre. The group meets every two months and has over 20 planned events every year in partnership with the South Lanarkshire Countryside Rangers, with many others emerging throughout the year.

The Glasgow Coastal Rowing Club was established in 2016 and is based near the Riverside Museum. Our diverse membership regularly row our two St Ayles skiffs along the Clyde, and as a club we are committed to improving the social, natural and cultural environment on the river.
