Thank you for registering your intention to engage with the Young Reporters’ Scotland (YRS) programme.
YRS aims to empower young people to explore and engage with environmental and sustainability issues in their local communities and beyond, supporting them to be active global citizens and an important voice for Scotland’s environment. By taking part in YRS young people join an international community of 34 countries who engage with Youth-led environmental journalism.
For schools, working with the YRS programme is great evidence of engagement with various topics through the Eco-Schools Scotland programme and supports schools to deliver on every pupil’s entitlement to Learning for Sustainability.
To support your engagement with YRS we will:
- Provide you with a Curriculum for Excellence linked resource pack to support teachers to integrate YRS into their own context (distributed in August).
- Keep you up-to-date with Young Reporters’ Scotland news and opportunities.
- Support you to develop entries for our exciting annual competition.
- Provide young people engaged with YRS to showcase their work.
In the meantime young people should start to explore local and global environmental issues, engage with environmental activity in their local area and find out more about the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development. We highly recommend that you sign up to our monthly bulletin to ensure you are kept up to date with developments and opportunities in YRS and Keep Scotland Beautiful’s wider work.
