Prestonfield Primary School

  • Pupils at Prestonfield Primary School used resources on The POD to learn about different types of energy and why it’s important not to waste it.

After learning a bit more about watts, how much energy is needed in Britain and how many watts everyday household items use (watt can you power assembly – used in class), Primary 7 worked in small groups to find out what they could power based on their weight. This was an activity that involved a bit of problem solving, an understanding of energy and lots of team work. They created posters based on the things they discovered.

  • Pupils at Prestonfield Primary School investigated what a carbon footprint was and thought about all of the things we use in our everyday lives that give us a carbon footprint. They then used Busta’s Energy Saving mission to investigate all the ways they could help save energy at home and at school, and then used these ideas to make energy saving book marks which they handed out on a trip to Edinburgh’s Waverly Court.

  • Prestonfield Primary School pupils used mindmapping to discuss the topic of energy and what they wanted to learn about it.

  • Prestonfield Primary School pupils used resources from The POD to look at the different types of energy and how they are produced.
