MOO Food is an environmentally conscious community food company based in Muir of Ord in the Highlands of Scotland. MOO Food was established in March 2017 by Founding Director Emma Whitham who is passionate about sustainable, healthy, local food. Emma is now joined by an enthusiastic, diverse, talented team of volunteers helping to drive the vision forward.
MOO Food Mentor Profile: Emma Whitham
I have 20 years experience of working in the environmental sector from climate change policy development to project management. My strength is in project design and engaging others in visionary missions. I take a creative and holistic approach to project design, being mindful of all the wider benefits climate change themed projects can bring to a community, including tackling social issues such as food poverty and social isolation and wider environmental issues like increasing biodiversity. I am passionate that as well as helping our communities to develop low carbon lifestyles we also need to support our communities to be more resilient with a capacity to thrive in a world of social, climatic and environmental change. I believe in designing projects that promote connecting people to themeselves, each other and their environment.
I also have the privilege of writing the Highland Community Food Growing strategy, which means I have knowledge of opportunities and challenges for food growing and food waste projects from across the whole region.
