Forgan's take on Ben Nevis
The team at Forgan's resturant in St Andrews decided that they wanted a bit of a challenge, and that Ben Nevis was the test for them.
Kirstie, Sales and event Co-ordinator said:
"As a team we wanted to complete something we could be proud of and that’s what we set out to achieve by climbing Ben Nevis. Forgan’s is a well-established family friendly restaurant in St Andrews serving up the best of Scotland’s produce. Our goal is to be part of the local community and we attend as many local galas and festivals as we can.
Our climbing team were 15 of our best (some whom have since left for university commitments and summer vacations). We climbed the highest mountain in Scotland and the whole of the UK and we are proud of our achievement. Ben Nevis was a challenge and not all found it easy. But as a team we stuck together and even had a picnic at the lake at the mid-way point.
May 30th 2018 was a hot and sunny day and sunscreen and water were top of the ‘to pack’ list. With such a diverse range of people we all looked forward to the climb ahead and we can assure you the challenge strengthened the relationships in the team.
We would like to thank Keep Scotland Beautilful for their support. It was such a motivator to know our efforts would go towards raising awareness of good sustainability practices for the future of Scotland. The work that Keep Scotland Beautiful do is very important, and therefore we would like to continue to support that work.
Our main take away from this is to be a closer team and to make sure we always work together to achieve a common goal. Forgan’s works because we all get along so well and team work makes the dream work!"
The team raised over £850 for their efforts.
Well done and thank you Forgan's!
Anne-Marie’s 5k feat
Inspired by the London Marathon, Anne-Marie Robb challenged herself to run 5k in aid of our charity. Anne-Marie did incredibly well with her training and completed the 5k course in Edinburgh with a personal best time. And, she raised a fantastic £526 for us. Well done and thank you Anne-Marie!
“I felt really motivated to learn to run after watching the London Marathon back in April. As I hadn’t run for a few years, I used a couch to 5k app to help me build my strength and stamina. I decided to raise money at the same time for two reasons – firstly to support a cause I believe in, and secondly to give me the motivation to continue with the running, even if I wasn’t enjoying it!”
Anne-Marie went on to say, “The work Keep Scotland Beautiful does is incredibly valuable and it felt great to be raising money to help protect and keep Scotland beautiful."
Anne-Marie has clearly got the fundraising bug, and is now looking to complete an open water swim later this year, with proceeds once again coming to our charity.
Well done Anne-Marie and thank you for all your hard work!
