In 2024, Queen's Cross Housing Association was recognised by Keep Scotland Beautiful with a Highly Commended Certificate of the Scottish level of the Gardening for Health and Wellbeing Award, one of five new RHS Community Awards.
Queens Cross Housing Association provide a variety of Health & Wellbeing activities to support the local community. They have four Growing Space projects including 3 open community gardens and one more enclosed space with allotted raised beds, communal growing areas and a poly tunnel.
Horticultural knowledge is provided at the group’s weekly tutor lead drop-in sessions during the growing season as well as their Kids Outdoors sessions for younger generations.
Their projects provide access to inner city green space, which can have a positive impact on wellbeing and enrich local biodiversity.
