EAGerBunch - Ellon Academy Gardeners

In 2023, EAGerBunch - Ellon Acedemy Gardeners received a Certificate of Recognition in the NatureScot It's Your Neighbourhood Pollinator Friendly Award.

The school teaches horticultural skills to additional support for learning pupils. They grow and cook their food, selling some produce to raise funds and donating some to the local food bank. They have a lunchtime garden club for mainstream pupils who are developing a Memorial Garden to remember lost pupils and staff. Other faculties use the garden space for their own activities. They hold events like plant sales, fundraising BBQs, and celebration events like award ceremonies. They have increased biodiversity by growing a range of flowers, bushes and trees and put up bird boxes and a bee house. They also do a lot of composting and recycle food waste from the canteen with their hot RIDAN composter.

In 2022, the group were recognised with a Keep Scotland Beautiful 'Beautiful Scotland & It's Your Neighbourhood' discretionary award - joint winner of the Involving Children and Young People Award.
