Darkwood Crew - Helping Ferguslie Flourish

Darkwood Crew is a group of constituted volunteers who have a defining aim of helping Ferguslie flourish. Over the last three years, the group has been responsible for a multi-faceted, wide-reaching, and more importantly, community-led #ReduceReuseRecycleFerguslie initiative. The initiative comprises of a daily 26-mile surplus food run, a weekly community market, an electrical appliance and large furniture recycling initiative, a newly established community growing area, and a comprehensive environmental maintenance program of the village green and other green and void spaces within the community.

In 2022, the group were recognised with a Keep Scotland Beautiful 'Beautiful Scotland & It's Your Neighbourhood' discretionary award - joint winner of the Growing Communities Award.
