In 2024, Carmunnock Community Gardeners was recognised by Keep Scotland Beautiful with a Highly Commended Certificate of the Scottish level of the Community Engagement Award, one of five new RHS Community Awards.
An enthusiastic group of 23 folk who meet every Wednesday mornings, in all but the worse weather! Their aim is to improve the shared community areas in the village and, in doing so, make them enjoyable places to walk, sit and socialise in. Sharing gardening expertise is an important part of the group, along with socialising and encouraging a sense of belonging.
They fundraise throughout the year (Food to Plate cookery evening, plant sales), along with holding an annual Flower Show which highlights local talent.
