Young Scot backs One Planet Picnic

Young Scot is incentivising all of its Young Scot card holders to support our One Planet Picnics – our initiative to get people from all over Scotland discovering the great tastes of seasonal food and local harvests.

With more than 685,000 of card holders throughout Scotland, each Young Scot member can earn 150 points if they organise their own picnic. One Planet Picnics are a great way to taste and share sustainable, locally and ethically produced food, and raise awareness of how sustainable food choices can have a positive impact on Scotland’s environment and economy.

Louise Macdonald, Chief Executive of Young Scot, said, "One Planet Picnic is a great way for young people to explore healthy eating.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for Young Scot Rewards users to get involved and learn more about seasonal, local produce that can be easily sourced and prepared."

Eve Keepax, Food and Environment Officer, at Keep Scotland Beautiful, added:

“It is fantastic to secure this support from Young Scot. I hope that it helps to encourage many more young people to eat and share sustainably sourced and healthy foods.

“One Planet Picnic encourages everyone to organise their own event, spend fun and quality time together, while getting to know the fantastic range of local produce on their doorstep. I hope that everyone will get involved and help to have a positive impact on Scotland’s environment, wildlife and their own health.”

This year, we have some exciting new resources, including a fun quiz, to help you make your picnic a success, so register now to receive these and find out more.
