Chef launches One Planet Picnic

Award winning chef Fred Berkmiller and pupils from Musselburgh Grammar School joined us this week to call for people to enjoy a One Planet Picnic.

One Planet Picnic aims to engage schools and communities across Scotland to discover some tasty sustainable food choices.

We're inviting everyone to organise and register their own picnic to raise awareness of food and sustainability.  As well as having fun and enjoying local and seasonal, organic and ethically-produced food, participants can feel great that it’s also good for the planet.

Fred praised the initiative and voiced his hope that “in 2017 we can see picnics taking place all across Scotland which serve up delicious local ingredients and inspire even more people to make sustainable food choices”.

One Planet Picnic is an opportunity to have fun discovering new ways to look after ourselves and our communities, one bite at a time. Eve Keepax, our Food and Environment Officer reminds us “a One Planet Picnic is good for you, and good for the planet”, and highlighted the importance of reducing food waste and packaging too.

Register your One Planet Picnic now to enter the prize draw.
